Stocked up

If I wanted to feel like a real Seattle-ite, I don’t think going to the Pike Place Market was the way to do it. Especially on a weekend. That place was packed with tourists, and I looked like one, too, with my camera and all. But I took lots of pictures anyway. You can see [...]

Turns out that Roth’s Starbucks job is not only part-time, it’s also temporary. As in only for two days next week. But there’s that whole foot in the door thing. We drove by the Starbucks corporate office in downtown Seattle where he’ll be working, and it was like the mother ship of all Starbucks with [...]

Coffee, anyone?

How apropos that Roth’s first job opportunity here in Seattle is with Starbucks! Woot, woot! It’s only part-time so far, but it’s doing sensory testing of new products. Wonder if he’ll get a discount? And if he can come up with something better than that awful green tea frappucino. Ick! But yeah for Roth!

Aversion therapy

After my second day of work at cool internet job (where all I did today was peruse the web looking for “research”), Roth and I took Sierra to the awesome off-leash area of Magnuson Park in Sandpoint again in our feeble attempt to “resocialize” her with other dogs. Sierra still has absolutely no interest in [...]

Sierra, I don’t think we’re in San Luis Obispo anymore

Posted on July 27, 2005 | Category: Uncategorized | 13 Comments

I originally wrote a detailed, humorous post on Saturday, the day after our arrival in the Emerald City, recapping the (mis)adventures of our Seattle trek. But somehow, it was lost on my laptop, AND the powers that be, the cruel, cruel internet gods (aka Comcast Cable), did not allow me access online until this evening. [...]

On our way

This is probably it for a few days, folks. The house is near empty. The carpet cleaners are on their way. The U-Haul is packed as tightly as can be with just enough room to squeeze in the top part of our mattress tomorrow morning before we depart. All that lies ahead for us is [...]

One man’s trash …

Posted on July 16, 2005 | Category: Uncategorized | 5 Comments

…is still one man’s trash in the end. This was the lesson learned today as we partook in the age-old American tradition of having a garage sale (well, actually, it was a weed-ridden gravel driveway sale) in an attempt to liquidate some stuff we just don’t want to take with us to Seattle. Most of [...]

I got the news today – finally! – that I got a job in Seattle. I am so relieved that we now have a house AND I have a job in our new city. I will be working as an Ad Sales Research Assistant for a web site. My job will primarily consist of putting [...]

The Great Purge of ’05

Posted on July 14, 2005 | Category: Uncategorized | 8 Comments

With fewer than seven days to go until our Seattle pilgrimage, we’ve fully delved into the purging of STUFF. As in old Christmas cards and letters from fourth grade pen pals (who I totally tried to Google to see what might have happened to her – anyone know of Kristen Kaas’ whereabouts? She was from [...]

Seattle bound

Posted on July 11, 2005 | Category: Uncategorized | 6 Comments

The Seattle move is officially underway! We reserved a U-Haul, started packing our stuff, and found a house to rent! Still waiting on the whole job thing, but I think that will come through this week as well. *fingers tightly crossed* About the house … first of all, I must thank Stace at daymented for [...]
