The Blogfodder

Now that I’ve kept an almost-daily blog for more than a year, and now that most of my family and a lot of my friends regularly read my posts, I’ve started to wonder if maybe people are holding back with me. As if anything they say or do might end up a topic of discussion [...]
I’m no Dawson Leery, though

I’ve been having a sort of love-hate relationship with Steven Spielberg throughout my entire life. I grew up a child of the eighties, during a time when his movies reigned supreme. It’s hard to think back to my childhood and not remember being deeply affected by his work. But over the last few years, I’ve [...]

After my less-than-stellar performance with the NY Times reporter, I am ready to move on to more than a WHOLE WEEK OFF from work. Thank the baby Jesus – I guess he’s the reason for the season, as they say. In actuality, I don’t really celebrate Christmas. I prefer to refer to the time off [...]
The interview …

…went OK, I think. Although I wish I could speak as well I can write. I’m just not good when it comes to off the cuff conversations. It’s hard for me to verbalize my thoughts, and well, I think I came across as amateurish. We’ll see if anything I said materializes into a quote. I’ll [...]

Yeah, so I have an interview tomorrow morning with a NY Times reporter who wants to talk to me about this post. He wants to know what I think about the movie-going experience nowadays because he’s doing a piece about it and enjoyed what I had to say on Blogcritics. Did I mention that it’s [...]

My mom called me first thing this morning, worried that Roth and I are having real trouble in our first year of marriage. I feel I owe a bit of clarification. WE ARE FINE. Seriously. When I say that we were fighting this weekend, what I really meant to say was that I was fighting [...]

Now who would be stupid enough to go and do this? I mean, I admit that I want one, too. Along with a monkey and a miniature pony. I wonder how the landlady would feel about it? She was very accepting of Sierra, so …
The storm before the calm

I have sat down to write a post several times during the last few days, but I have not been able to actually click the publish button. Part of me has been holding back a bit because I’ve been dealing with some interesting domestic issues and haven’t felt like sharing them with the whole world. [...]
The dog days of December

Sierra seems to be feeling much better today, after two days of antibiotics and a mild diet of cooked rice and ground beef. Her blood work came back fine, so I suppose we’ll never know what caused her ailment. At least it wasn’t something tragic, like cancer. And thanks to everyone for their well wishes. [...]
