I’m already there in my mind

I feel I’m due for a good old-fashioned update, for those of you who keep track of that sort of thing. Not that there’s much to report, but it seems I’ve been so hellbent on establishing regularly occurring features (which I haven’t exactly been pumping out anyway) that I haven’t carved out real estate for [...]

Doughy detente

There’s not much that Roth and I fundamentally disagree on in life. We share the same philosophies when it comes to religion and politics. We both mute the volume during commercials. We each prefer Coke to Pepsi, preferably from a fountain with crushed ice. We fit together quite nicely. But if there is one source [...]

Tulip tramp

We drove up to Mount Vernon today to gawk and point at some tulips, which finally bloomed this past week after some crazy-ass weather last weekend. I gotta say, the colors are really this stunning. No editing done to any of my pictures. Not even the one with the magical cleavage. More tulip pictures here.

I love my husband — reason # 5

Posted on April 25, 2008 | Category: I Love My Husband | 8 Comments

He knows the way to my heart is paved with mashed potatoes. Him: You sounded down on the phone, so I made you some mashed potatoes. I knew I married this man for a reason. Also, the mashed potatoes, which were whipped with butter and heavy cream, were the accompaniment to pan-seared pork tenderloin and [...]

She knows the way to my heart is through a toilet

Posted on April 23, 2008 | Category: Uncategorized | 10 Comments

Haaaave you met my friend Gabby? No? Let me give you some background. She and I started working at my current job at the same time, mere days apart, both of us as assistants for different higher-ups in the company. Naturally, out of pure administrative professionals’ boredom, we bonded. Turned out, we also shared a [...]

Scraped off the cutting room floor

All of the following tidbits are probably better suited for Twitter, but for whatever reason – damn 140 character limit, life, work – never quite made it there. Most of them really should’ve just stayed inside my head. ***Word to the wise: Iced chai tea lattes from Peet’s taste like rancid dishwater. I learned how [...]

Apatow for seduction

Posted on April 22, 2008 | Category: Uncategorized | 13 Comments

I have a soft spot in my heart for white, kind of lumpy, out-of-shape male nudity, for no particular reason other than I experience it almost every day of my married life. So, it’s what I know (and love!). Still, no matter how you slice it (hmm, maybe that’s not a good term here), there’s [...]

A fine mess

Posted on April 21, 2008 | Category: Uncategorized | 8 Comments

Lately, I’ve felt like my blog has become a big ‘ol hot mess. Not that there has ever been any sort of rhyme or reason to what I write about over the course of its three and a half years in existence. Not really. I’ve never purported that this blog has a real purpose, other [...]

Debt of gratitude

Thanks to all who participated in my impromptu delurking the other day, especially the two Calgarians (Hi Lisa! Hi Kylie!) who came forward and identified themselves as my resident archive squatters. I sincerely hope they weren’t too freaked out that I called them out in that way, but I was super curious to know more [...]

Tastes like chicken*

Posted on April 16, 2008 | Category: Uncategorized | 16 Comments

On last night’s episode of Hell’s Kitchen, the contestants were given five minutes to properly cut up a whole chicken into eight pieces (two each breasts, wings, thighs and legs), without butchering it all to hell. PLEASE. Five minutes? Roth can do this in less than one minute. Warning: Probably not suitable viewing for the [...]
